Snowy and flocked Christmas trees
Twenty trees with snow on them, from a light frost on the tips to a coat over every branch. The group is weighted to the taller sizes: seven 7ft trees, four 8ft, four 6ft and three 5ft, which reflects where people put a snowy tree, in a hall or a big room where the white shows. Several are pre-lit, including the 7.5ft Snowy Dorchester Spruce with 600 warm white LEDs. Prices run from £99 to £399, and the tall ones are delivered by two-person courier at no charge.

How much snow
The three words on the cards mean three different amounts of white. Frosted and snow tipped trees have a pale coating on the ends of the branches, so from across the room the tree is still green with a highlight. Snowy trees carry white across the outer third of each branch. Flocked trees are coated over the whole branch, and the 8ft Snow Tipped Grey Fir with cashmere tips at £199 and the 7.5ft Snowy Dorchester at £329 mark the two ends of the scale.
Lights and decorations on white
Flocking changes the rules. Ice white LEDs keep the snow looking cold; warm white turns it cream, which some people prefer and some do not. Red, gold and dark green decorations stand out strongly against the white, so a flocked tree needs fewer baubles than a green one. Silver and glass disappear into the flocking. Tinsel fights with it and is usually left off.
Shedding and storage
A flocked tree drops some powder on its first assembly; a sheet under the stand for the first evening catches it and the shedding stops once the branches settle. In January let the branches dry if the room has been humid, fold them in gently and store the tree flat in a dry room, not a loft that swings between damp and hot.
Snowy trees at other sizes
For a smaller snowy tree, the 6.5ft Flocked Spruce Pencil Pine at £54.99 in the slim section and the potted frosted trees in the 3ft group give the look in a hall or on a doorstep. For an all-white tree without green underneath, see the white trees.
Common questions
Does the snow come off?
A little powder drops when the tree is first shaped, then it stops. It brushes or vacuums away and does not stain. Fully flocked trees shed more than frosted ones.
Can a snowy tree go outside?
No, the flocking is not weatherproof. Keep these trees indoors, away from a damp porch.
Which lights for a flocked tree?
Ice white to keep the snow crisp, warm white for a softer look, multi coloured for a strong contrast. The pre-lit snowy trees in the range are warm white.
Is a snowy tree harder to store?
Slightly. Dry it before packing, fold the branches rather than crushing them, and keep it flat and dry. A storage bag helps.
