4ft Christmas trees
Four feet (120cm) is the first height at which a tree stands on the floor and still looks like a proper tree rather than a decoration. It clears a 2m ceiling with room for a topper, takes 40 to 60 baubles, and fits a one-bedroom flat, an office reception, a dining room corner or a caravan. The 4ft group includes fibre optic trees with the most tips of any size in that style, white and black microdot trees with 500 LEDs, and conventional pines in pre-lit and unlit versions. Prices start under £25 and the dearest is under £100, delivered free.

Why 4ft is a good size for a small home
A 4ft tree is about 70cm across at the base, so it takes roughly half a square metre of floor. Decorated, it is light enough to lift onto a low table if you want more height, and it stores in a box the size of a suitcase. In a flat with a 2.2m or 2.3m ceiling it leaves space for a 20cm topper, and in a room with a sofa and a television it does not have to go in the one corner where nothing else fits.
What is in the 4ft group
The fibre optic trees are strongest here: six of the thirteen fibre optic trees in the shop are 4ft, including the Dewdrop Star tree that adds warm white micro LEDs to the colour-changing tips. The 4ft Twinkling White Microdot Tree with 500 warm white LEDs at £79 is a lit frame rather than a foliage tree and is rated for outdoors. The pines and spruces come pre-lit with 200 to 400 LEDs or unlit, with hinged branches like the bigger sizes.
Lights and decorations
Four hundred LEDs is the guideline for lighting an unlit 4ft tree, or a 480 cluster set for a denser glow. For baubles, 40 to 60 at 5cm to 6cm with a 20cm topper is the usual mix. A 4ft tree carries a single colour scheme well; two colours at most.
Comparing with 5ft
The step up to 5ft adds 30cm of height and about 20cm of width, and the 5ft group has far more pre-lit pines to choose from. If the ceiling is 2.1m or more and the floor space allows, 5ft is the better buy for a main tree; 4ft is the right call for a second tree, an office or a genuinely small room.
Common questions
Will a 4ft tree fit a 2m ceiling?
Yes, with 60cm to spare before the topper. Even on a 30cm table it clears a 2m ceiling with a small star.
How wide is a 4ft tree?
About 70cm at the base for a full tree, and 40cm for a pencil or microdot tree. The width is on each product page.
How many lights does a 4ft pre-lit tree have?
200 to 400 warm white LEDs on the pines, and 500 on the microdot trees where the lights are the tree.
Is 4ft big enough for a main tree?
For a small flat or a dining room, yes. For a standard living room most people find 5ft or 6ft looks more in proportion with the furniture.
