How a lit canvas works
A printed canvas on a frame, with fibre optic strands or small LEDs pushed through the picture where the lights, candles or stars are. A battery box on the back runs them and most have a timer. The picture is a normal canvas by day and lights up after dark; it is the simplest piece of lit decoration to put up, since it hangs from one picture hook.
The pictures
Robins, robins with holly, a fireplace with stockings, and the Christmas dogs canvas at £34.99, which has more LEDs and is the most ordered. All are 40cm; the fibre optic ones twinkle, the LED ones glow steadily.
Where they go
A hall wall, a landing, above a sideboard or leaning on a mantelpiece. Because they run on batteries they go on any wall, not only one near a socket.
Common questions
Do they need a socket?
No, all eleven are battery powered, usually three AA, with the box on the back of the frame.
How do they hang?
From a single picture hook or nail through the hanger on the back of the frame.
What size are they?
Forty centimetres square, framed on a wooden stretcher.
Do the fibre optic ones change colour?
They twinkle in white and warm white through the picture; the colour is fixed.
