Lit wreaths and garlands

Twenty wreaths and garlands that arrive with the LEDs wired through the foliage, nearly all of them warm white. Sixteen are mains powered and four run on batteries, which is the one to choose for a front door. The two most ordered are the Allison Pine wreath, 50cm with 40 LEDs, at £34.99, and the Ultrabright garland, 5.4m with 860 LEDs, at £49.

Why buy them lit

Winding a light set through a wreath takes ten minutes and the box never quite hides. A pre-lit wreath has the LEDs on the inner wire with the cable buried in the foliage and the battery box or lead exiting at the back. On a garland the difference is bigger: 860 LEDs woven through 5.4m of foliage is an hour's work by hand and the factory spacing is more even.

Wreaths

The pine wreaths carry 40 to 60 warm white LEDs and read as a soft glow round the door. The silver cluster wreath, 45cm across with 600 twinkling white LEDs, is a different object: a ring of light rather than a lit wreath, for a window or a wall where it is seen from the dark. Battery wreaths have a six-hour timer; mains wreaths need a socket within the lead length, which usually means an indoor window.

Garlands

The Ultrabright garlands, 5.4m long in green or rose gold, carry 860 warm white LEDs and are the brightest garlands in the shop. They dress a staircase with a landing or a long mantelpiece and shelf in one run. Shorter lit garlands cover a mantelpiece alone.

Indoor and outdoor

Twelve carry the indoor and outdoor rating, one is outdoor only and three are indoor pieces. For an exposed front door choose a battery wreath with the outdoor rating, and keep the box upright behind the foliage.

Common questions

Mains or battery for a front door wreath?

Battery, with a timer. There is rarely a socket by a front door and a cable through the frame stops the door closing.

How many LEDs on a lit wreath?

Forty to sixty warm white LEDs on the pine wreaths, which is a glow rather than a blaze. The silver cluster wreath has 600.

Can a lit garland be cut?

No. The lights run the full length; cutting it breaks the circuit.

Are the lit wreaths double sided?

No, the foliage and lights face forward. On glass, the back shows as the green frame.
