Decorating the rest of the house

The tree takes the living room; this department does the hall, the mantelpiece, the stairs, the kitchen table and the windows. The pieces that work hardest are the lit ones: a floating-candle set over the tree, a lit canvas on a wall, a water spinner on a side table, a nutcracker guard flanking each end of the hearth. One hundred and eighteen pieces run from the mains, sixty-three on batteries and twelve on USB, so most places in a house can be lit without an extension lead.

The sections

Light-up ornaments are the 171 lit pieces, from floating candles with a magic wand remote to lit stars in burlap bases. Nutcrackers and figures are the standing soldiers and Santas up to 4ft. Snow globes and spinners are the battery lanterns with snow swirling inside. Village scenes and trains are the battery villages and the classic train. Canvases are lit wall art. Stockings and sacks, advent calendars, novelty pieces and table centrepieces complete it.

Licensed characters

Festive's licensed infinity lights and figures, Disney, Marvel and Star Wars among them, sit in the light-up ornaments section. They are the pieces bought for a child's room or a themed tree.

Power and safety

Every lit piece here uses low-voltage LEDs that run cool. Battery pieces list the cells needed; mains pieces list the lead length. Fifty-seven carry the indoor and outdoor rating and can stand in a porch.
